Free app-to-printer PDF software
7-PDF Printer is a free productivity program that enables you to print or create PDF documents from any application. This utility tool is a lightweight and easy-to-use software that offers easy conversion of files directly from a program. As such, you don’t need to export documents or use conversion tools. This software is primarily free for any type of user, as long as the number of users is less than 10.
7-PDF Printer is essentially a PDF creator—however, it has the added feature of easily printing out whatever PDF you made. Not only that but it also provides highly customizable settings for both conversion and document properties. This software can be used as a PDF network printer. The PrintToPrinter functionality lets you forward PDF print jobs to physical printers. The Merge function for the print controls will compile several print jobs into one PDF document.
The controls for the printer are much more intuitive. You can check previews of the files, assign password protection, fiddle with the quality settings, set the document properties, configure the watermark settings, and more. This program supports PDF/A-1, PDF/A-2b, PDF/A-3b compliant documents, and even digital signing of the files. However, you can also create image alternatives to PDF with this tool, such as BMP, EPS, PS, PNG, PCX, JPEG, and TIFF files.
A command-line function is also available. It’s pretty easy to navigate for any type of user, so despite the different versions, anyone can use it—and for free, too. However, if you need a copy for more than 10 users, you’ll need the premium version. The Free Community Edition has Standard, Professional, and Expert versions—the last two notably supporting Citrix. The premium versions can be for large organizations, non-profit groups, and developers.
Needs more interface options
Overall, 7-PDF Printer is a handy application for any PDF tasks that you’d like to directly address in any program from the start. It’s user-friendly and offers advanced options that you can customize. However, it lacks a built-in tutorial and you’ll have to check the official website and its downloadable text documents for the actual advanced guides. Nevertheless, this is still a recommended software to try out.
